Micro Tunnels comprise 85% of the Fluval Biomax pre volume, provided oxygen to nitrifying bacteria, ensuring rapid removal of toxic ammonia and nitrite. Micro Cavities account for 15% of the internal pore volume, providing habitat for other species of bacteria, which require oxygen poor conditions to optimize water quality.
